Our Teaching School Alliance is a successful and well-established provider for School Direct Initial Teacher Training. We offer training placements within friendly, supportive and high achieving settings at secondary level. We work with the South Birmingham SCITT to provide this qualification. Further details can be found here:
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including 3rd year under-graduates together with those people seeking a change in career. All teacher training programmes run from September to June and incorporate two school placements along with a comprehensive professional studies programme delivered by experienced teachers. In a typical week, trainees will spend 4 days in school and 1 day in training at the Sixth Form College, Solihull.
What do applicants need to apply?
- GCSE Mathematics (or equivalent): Grade C/4 or above
- GCSE English Language (or equivalent): Grade C/4 or above
- A degree from a United Kingdom higher education institution or equivalent qualification. Applicants with a degree not related to their preferred subject area will also be considered.

The School Direct route allows students to achieve QTS and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) - a level 7 qualification in teaching and learning (minimum PGCertEd) which is a secure route onto a Masters Programme.
