A Year 9 and Year 10 netball team represented Saint Augustine’s at the Netball PGL tournament at Boreatton Park PGL. Both teams were involved in six netball matches across Saturday and Sunday – against other secondary schools and netball clubs. The Year 9’s won all 6 matches, allowing them to get through to the semi finals. This then went to knock out stages and we lost the semi final meaning they achieved 3rd place. The girls played fantastically, demonstrated great commitment and perseverance. The Year 10 team won 4 matches, lost 1 and drew 1. This got them through to the semi-final which they won. They played with excellent skill level and execution. They played in an intense final where there were 2 minutes extra time, they lost by 2 shots. They came 2nd place! There were some fantastic performances across the two teams and all girls were fully supportive of each other which really helped keep the spirits high. The player of the tournament for Year 9 was given to Catherine Hill for her hard work, motivation and determination throughout the games. Player of the tournament for Year 10 was Chloe Butler who demonstrated great confidence levels and shooting ability.

The girls were a real credit to Saint Augustine’s over the weekend and we had comments from other members of staff, PGL leaders and umpires stating how polite and friendly our students were. As well as playing in the netball tournament the girls got to select to do a range of OAA activities including the giant swing, rock climbing, zip wire and quad bikes. They also got to meet an England Netball player who was around to have photos with and chat to – which was a truly inspirational part of the weekend for all students.
