Nuffield Bursaries

Case Study

The first week of my bursary was spent learning and reading about the techniques and experiments I would be carrying out. I shadowed a science technician and observed cell culturing and also a phD student .

This second week we photographed each result with UV photography and obtained some results. Each experiment took one and a half days to complete.

This week involved learning and using the technique called Western Blotting. After each Blott we then photographed the results with chemical-luminescence photography – X-ray.

This week was spent carrying out Western Blott again , which we then repeated and then photographed obtaining some results.

This last week was spent collating results, writing my project report for my supervisor and drawing some conclusions from both the experiments and the bursary
.
