The School Council

The School Council is here to give you, the students, a voice within the school. Regular meetings are held at form, year and council level to represent your views, issues or concerns to the school management. The tables below list all of the representatives for 2008/09 and further down on this page you can view the minutes from the student council meetings. Remember if you have any comments, issues or indeed praise that you would like to be shared with the school management team then please talk to your form representative :)

The file below gives you an overview of how communication of your issues flows through from your form class to the School Council.

What Have we done for you?

We have worked hard on behalf of the students over the last year to resolve the following issues:

The general condition of seating in the school theatre

Some of the seats in the theatre are broken, making them uncomfortable to sit in. It has been agreed that all broken seats are to be fixed :)

Improved lighting within the school theatre

New lighting for the theatre is to be bought at a cost of £16,000.

Condition of the toilets

The school has spent over £35,000 improving the toilet facilities at the school over the last 2 years.

What are the current issues?

These are the issues that we are currently working towards resolving on your behalf:

The poor hygiene of the Toilets

The general hygiene of the toilets is very poor as a minority of students are mistreating them. We plan on an advertising campaign within all the toilets to highlight to all students the importance of keeping the toilets clean and tidy.

The school learning environment

The real problem here is one of litter! Despite previous efforts to control the amount of rubbish and litter being deposited around the school it continues to remain a serious problem. We have discussed the issue of extra bins around the school and we are looking to seek the expert advice of the DIRT Campagne over the summer holiday.
